A Nice Walk ( with photos )

Today we went to the Celtic walking trail. We were hoping that the ATV ‘s had made a trail through the snow but they hadn’t so we just did 1/2 a walk .

It has snowed quite a bit yesterday, then warmed up some and rained. Then today it all froze over again so the grounds were all crunchy making it difficult to walk in.

We only walked 1/2 way then turned around.
It was -1 and cloudy but at least it wasn’t windy. That wind from the ocean can be really cold.

Today we finally got out of the house to walk the dogs. We were ALL getting cabin fever. The roads were bad but we have brand new snow tires and 4 wheel drive so we were good. The drifts along the highway were bad but the snow plough was keeping up with them or at least doing the best he could

We went to our regular pathway and there were no traces of anyone going through so we went to our next most popular place to walk and saw that it had been walked through so decided to get out and walk.

Here are pictures of the pathway and how much snow we had.

We are really impressed with our dog’s improvement. The difference is like chalk and cheese. Before she’d wait for someone to lift her up to the couch. Now she just jumps up on her own. On the trail she’s now racing well ahead of us while before she’d really lag behind in hopes that we’d turn around to go back. I’m so pleased. I’m definitely going to purchase some for myself.

We didn’t do the whole walk today. We did a partial walk and turned back around. It was blustery out today with intermittent snow squalls with wind coming from all directions.

I hope everyone is doing ok with this storm.
Take care

Wow, talk about a winter wonderland! So glad for you about your dog's great improvement. :) That must be a huge relief. 🤗 🐶

Hi Medusa, it IS a winter wonderland and I am very relieved regarding our dogs health. She’s so much better. While she appreciated our lifting her up, it’s obvious she takes great pride in jumping up herself.
Thanks for caring.

Absolutely beautiful photos! Thank you so much for sharing and, Great news about your doggie!! ♥️
Thanks CaliS
Today we left early to go to a doctors appointment. We got an automatic AI message saying that I had an appointment today but when I went in for 9:00 in the morning, they told me it was wrong. They said they got a lot of people calling saying that they had a call for an appointment when it wasn’t so.

We decided to take our dogs for an early walk. We went to the forest path but this is the only photo I took. Now there’s at least a trail made in the snow so it’s easier to walk. We only walked about 2 kilometres but the dogs did their business.

Well, that must have been frustrating. Pretty, snowy path. :)

I love the sound snow makes when you walk on it - that little crunch as you compress the snow.

Today we decided to walk on a groomed trail and groomed it was. We went on a meticulously groomed trail. IMG_2275.jpeg
Even our dogs liked it.

This picnic table shows how much accumulated snow we got, approximately one foot. IMG_2279.jpeg
Here’s that turquoise bench all covered with snow. I’m not sure why I find things like this so attractive but I do.

On the way home I took a picture of the cows eating hay. They were eating hay when we left and still eating hay when we came back.

Unspoiled/Untouched snow that piles up perfectly on a bench or any flat surface is beautiful - I find it attractive too! ---- and interesting the way it piles so perfectly then sort of tapers off.... nature is amazing!

Today we went to the same place we went to yesterday. We met an older couple, about our age, walking 3 dogs. They were all small lap dogs , two were 12 years old and the other one the just inherited and had just been spayed. They assured us they their dogs were friendly but their new one growled at our older female and I didn’t like that so we moved on. Lol

Today I timed our walk and it was 50 minutes long. On our walk we discovered this. I’m not sure how you can miss it. At the start of this trail there’s a big sign that says NO AUTOMOBILES!!! It must be kids stealing their parents SUV. There’s no snow tires on it.
I’m not sure how they are going to get this vehicle out if no trucks are allowed in. When we got to the trail this morning there was a guy putting a sign up “Use At Your Own Risk!”

I guess the owner of the trail will have to call the police for vandalism and the cops will have to get a tow truck to get it out.

It’s people like this who wreck it for everyone else.

Anyway we still had an enjoyable walk.
I think they use these tires pulled behind an atv to get the path cleared. It clearly takes a lot of work and effort to get these paths cleared.

On the way back I took another photo of the furry cows. I know one’s a highland coo cow.

Awesome pictures as always. :) You have a way of finding the art in scenes. I like the tires in the snow and the cows, of course, but all your pictures are nice.

I feel bad for the owner of the car. I know it's their own fault, but still.

Thank you. I feel bad for the owner of the car too but there IS a huge sign at the start of this trail which says NO AUTOMOBILES allowed.
The trail just went through meticulous grooming for ‘everyone’s’ enjoyment. Maybe it’s kids getting drunk at night going for a joy ride. I’m not sure. All I know is there’s fair warning!

Today we went back to the place we walked yesterday and the SUV was gone. It got pulled out from the ditch backwards.

I’m glad they got it out. Someone must have done it in the middle of the night. Today was the weekend and the trail was busy with ATV’s and side by sides. Just when we were finishing our walk seven side by sides passed us. Side by side sides aren’t nearly as loud as ATV’s and I’m glad they are so respectful. They waited until we got off the trail before they entered which was nice.

When we first started on the trail you could see cross country skiiing tracks.

It’s perfect for cross country skiiing. I used to love cross country skiing. The only down side is that it’s hard to look after dogs when cross country skiing which was why I stopped.

Today was -9 and partially cloudy, partially sunny. It was another lovely walk.

I guess I did come across as judgemental! 🤷‍♀️
Not at all! I can understand the frustration, especially when the area is clearly marked. :)

ETA: You're probably right about kids.

It is really nice that the side by sides waited for you to be off the trail before coming on. People being decent like that renews my faith.

I admire your cross country skiing; I've never done it, but it looks like a really good workout.

It WAS very decent of them to wait. They certainly didn’t have to. Most trail users ARE very decent, respectful people. On the sign at the beginning of the trail, it suggests MUTUAL RESPECT which most people show. That’s why the abandoned car really surprised me.

I used to love cross country skiing but that’s before I got dogs. It’s a great workout but not really dog friendly. We never leave our dogs at home. Our dogs are with us 24/7 and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Your doggies are really lucky to have you. ❤️

Lucius is with us 24/7 too, but that's not really a great feat as I don't go out a lot and there are three of us so someone is always here.

I remember once when husband had hurt is back (pinched nerve), we all three traveled to a medical facility and then traveled from there to a further away facility, forgetting in our worry, about poor Lucius at home. My son had to leave the facility and Uber home (two hours) to rescue Lucius! I still feel bad about that even though Lucius has long since forgotten, I know.
