A place for chatting in real time?

Hello all -
I'm new here and have been exploring the different forums. Recently due to a health issue I haven't been out and about for a few months and live alone, so it would be great to have a couple of people to chat with here and there online in near real time rather than posting each tine and navigating that way. Is there such a function here or do you have suggestions. Thanks so much! Have a wonderful Sunday!

There are some great subreddits on Reddit for people over 60, boomers, etc. and they have a pm feature (private message). Very few ads and no disgusting posts. Most of the subreddits discourage asking for dates too, which makes it easier to just enjoy conversations with no underlying contexts.
