A question for our UK members about tea

I don't often drink tea but, when I do, I like Taylors of Harrogate Yorkshire tea. :)
 

My mother drank mostly tea, with an occasional coffee. She drank Lipton that came in little bags you could dangle in a cup of hot water. I didn't know there was any other kind of tea, until my late teens. I never developed a taste for tea, but I drink way too much coffee, and I understand how coffee varies from one to another, and not all of it comes in a two pound can. When that was all the stores had back in the day, I used to think, "Coffee should be better than this." and it is. But as long as the public thought that was all there was, that's all they sold. Then there was instant coffee, but that's a whole new level of low.

I'm very looooow... I only drink Instant at home.. well when I say 'drink'' I mean a cup of coffee twice a year..hence the instant.

Outside I'm just as much of a lightweight.. altho' I drink more coffee at Cafe's when I'm out and about than I do at home , it's still only very weak.. Lattes'... or Cappuccinos :coffee:

Funny how fussy we can be about hot drinks. I like coffee - Littles Columbian. Alpro Barista Dairy Free Oat milk and a teaspoon of honey. :)

Either. Also like chilled coffee :)
 
If I stopped drinking tea, a tea factory would likely go out of business and folks would lose their jobs, so I feel that I have a duty to keep the tea-pot full of tea. 😊

I might ring Buckingham Palace to alert them of your award worthy services to the tea factory but, I think they might be a bit busy at the minute :( ;)
 
Have you ever wondered why the British drink tea instead of coffee? It's because the East India Company had a monopoly over the tea industry in Britain. in 1600 Queen Elizabeth I gave a royal charter to a new trading company, the East India Company, by which it was given a monopoly over all British trade with the Indies, tea became more popular than coffee, chocolate, and alcohol. Tea was seen as inherently British, and its consumption was encouraged by the British government because of the revenue gained from taxing tea.

So there you go, good old capitalism in full swing.

Don't worry most don't eat that way anymore lol....if you lived in my Granny's house though every mealtime was observed...when the bell rings it is time for more "sustenance" :)
