A sign inflation could start easing: Walmart is slashing prices on clothing and other products

I'm not counting on any drop in prices in the near future. If anything, any price drops in coming weeks will just be a "pause" before costs rise even more. Food production is down, as many farmers have been forced to cut back due to high fuel costs. Fuel prices will stay high until increased drilling/imports are allowed, and refinery capacity increases. The recent moves by the Fed, could have a major effect on housing costs, and may even lead to a housing "bust".

If you follow the "opinions" of 10 financial advisors, you will probably get 10 different clues as to where the economy is headed. The stock market has been a real "crap shoot" lately, and may continue to be risky for months to come.

For now, reducing debt, and maintaining a fair amount of savings is probably the best strategy...for those who can. Those who are already living on the financial "edge" will probably fare even worse.
