A silly exercise

No doubt some have wondered how their life would be if the choices made had been different. In my case, in order to make different choices, the basis for change must occur prior to my birth, the birth of my ancestors and so on. There were influences and circumstance that led to my birth and life thereafter.

In many ways life is predetermined by various factors one has little or no control over. I believe in accountability, as everyone has freewill. however, how free is our will when life leads us all around by the circumstances we must cope with?

I don't believe free will exists as with any choices circumstance influences a predictable outcome.

Realistically, in order to make clean break from earlier choices growing up, I would need to be a different person altogether.

Our lives are LOOSELY pre-planned by your soul prior to birth on the Earth. You still have free will to change what you want during your life.
We discuss the upcoming life with our guiding Angels who's goal is to help us evolve to God consciousness.
You felt you must make amends for actions of past lives.
When the soul enters the heavens, NOTHING MATTERS except to experience the ultimate Being!
YOU CHOSE THIS, even the illnesses and deformities; everything you must "cope with"; all to bring you closer to God.
One day you will know this. This life is fleeting and you chose what you are enduring to lift you higher to God after the death of the body.

Mr. Ed. --This is contradictory. You say you believe in free will then you say you don't.
It is NOT a silly exercise. It is crucial to the meaning of our lives.
Of course, free will exists, even with some animals, and it differs for everyone. Sometimes it is trivial free will. such as what you are wearing now.
No one knows the definite answer. I know that most philosophers, especially religious ones, accept free will to a point. But brain physiology shows that choices and reactions are often determined. I have studied this. A very complex issue.
