A small town in Nova Scotia has run out of ideas for street names

By chance Davey, there was an article in our local paper a couple of weeks back about local place names. This is not it, but what horrors and titillation if a person had a name to match and was asked for name and address.
Local to me.

The rudest, weirdest and funniest place names in Sussex
  1. Cocking, Midhurst. ...
  2. Titty Hill, Milland. ...
  3. Balls Cross, Petworth. ...
  4. Knob Hill, Warnham. ...
  5. Bushy Bottom, Adur. ...
  6. Fulking, Mid Sussex. ...
  7. Dumb Woman's Lane, Rye. ...
  8. Warninglid, Slaugham.
Add my Jack Russel came from the pub at Fulking, a delightful spot, quintessential England, even if the dog was a Fulking pest.

Can you imagine asking a cab .. take me to That street..''which street?.. no, That street.. '' what other street.. no not Other street.. that Street... :ROFLMAO:
Love it! Only our Nova Scotians would think of something like that! Typical Bluenosers! I consider myself to be an honorary one, with great pride, even though I have lived in NB for the past 8 years!

Edmonton in Canada has street names just like that. In fact, most of their streets are numerically named. The most frustrating part is that they have the same numbers for streets and avenues. Then there are the same numbers for east, west, north and south. It’s very frustrating. Thank goodness for gps.View attachment 284626
I hate numbered streets! That's just plain lazy!

I don't want to dis my Canadian neighbors in Nova Scotia, but naming streets doesn't seem to be one of their strengths. I mean, "Nova Scotia Trunk Highway 7" doesn't sound like a shady treelined lane
I can tell you from experience that Nova Scotia Highway 7 is definitely NOT tree lined, or a shady lane! It's actually quite dreary but with lovely villages along its route! :)

Edit: I forgot about the great views of the Atlantic! How could I?

Vancouver BC:
"east - west" streets (out of the downtown core) are numbered (First St. to 75th Street);
"north - south" streets starting in the west:
Battles (Waterloo, Bleinheim

We should ask Lilac to correct the east - west streets! As to the second: I can't remember a town/city in Ontario where there wasn't a Waterloo St. I lived in London at xxx Waterloo St. Don't bother looking. I did already via Google Earth and it is no longer there!

Do you think they would be willing to hire somebody to name their streets? I would have a blast doing that.
Can I suggest a few? (and you can keep the money)

Erroneous Place
Chicken Dinner Road
Wazoo Way
Anyhow Ave
Linger Longer Lane
Hollywoody Boulevardy
Puddin Hill
Squeeze Penny Lane
Closed Parkway
and Farfromopopen Road

(disclaimer: some of those already exist...I've been on them)

Numbered Streets run north/south.
Numbered Avenues run east/west.
It’s easy to find your destination in these areas. It’s when the numbered road becomes a Drive or Crescent, etc that I get turned around.

@Old Salt I lived on Waterloo Street in London too. That was 50 years ago and that house is long gone too.

What an incredible coincidence, Jules! For me it was 56 years ago! Small world! And they were grand old houses too! Why do they have to tear everything older down! I worked at O-P-Chee on Adelaide. They made bubble gum. It was a hundred and five degrees inside every day and my pay was $ 30.11 a week! :)
