A step back in time to those school days.

in a primary class over 5's and under 9's maybe the teacher announced "we are going to start to learn knitting - put up your hand if you wanna try" - I was the only male in a class of 50/50 sexes who did so - and so the die was cast - i could knit all my life from hand to machines etc - I was a risk taker and continued all my life and enjoyed the " risks" and the advantages that accrued

Making "A"s in academic subjects but "D"s in Conduct. I didn't want to be lumped in with the "nerds" so I hung with the potheads, smoking during lunch period and jumping the fence to go to McDonald's. Little did I know that my "helicopter mother" sat in the car along the road outside the school and saw all this. I'm sure it's one of the reasons she pulled me out of public school and sent me to a Southern Baptist high school where I found out the students were even worse. I did mostly behave there because if I didn't our 300-pound coach had a large paddle and knew how to use it.:p

ah a case of spare the rod and spoil the child saying?

Having to write 100 times "I must not talk in class". What a waste of time that was.
Having so much homework each night. My father used to say "What are they teaching you during the day"?
Homework was the pits. I rarely done it and was forever getting into trouble because of it.
English classes on Fridays and Mondays in year 9, always given homework. For that whole school year, I never done it.
So every Monday, I was sent to the principal's office and given 6 cuts with the thin, bamboo cane on both hands.
Still never done the homework. Passed English without an issue.

I hated homework so much, I always did it as late as I could on a Sunday night.....

I was a non-conformist at school...really terrible.... very cheeky.. and didn't like to follow rules..I'm still a lot like that today....

However I passed all my exams so I didn't lose out that way....:D

My girlfriend in high school and I used to have to study for things like Bible tests. She would study for days and I never studied, yet she graduated one rank behind me. It used to make her so angry. A lot of doing homework or not doing homework has a lot to do with memory.

I hated those automatic comments the teachers would select for our 5-week reports. I always got "Student talks too much in class," and that bane of many a teen's existence: "Student is not performing up to his/her potential." Ugh!

Like some others have mentioned, I was a bit of a hellraiser in school, but my grades were always good, so my parents didn't have a lot of leverage.

I was never a school lover... school clown all the way through public school... spent many days down in the Principal's office... was sent home many days... till my Mom, (God Bless her) got a job as a library assistant... So she was a lot closer than being sent home...

High school was really no different except they had shop classes, like welding, sheet metal, small engines, carpentry, auto mechanics, drafting... and once I found my way into drafting, and welding, school became fun, and I enjoyed it...

I hated the way most of my teachers in high school picked on the "nerdy", unpopular kids just as much as the popular kids (almost all football players and cheerleaders) did. It was an old high school full of old, worn out, couldn't-wait-to-retire teachers. Junior high (middle school) was a lot better; it was a brand new school and full of brand new, energetic teachers who got right after any bullying and seemed liked they loved being teachers. I think I learned more there than I did in high school.

Thinking about a video that summed up my school years and this one came to mind.
Never really had any problems with other students, like others, just kept my head down.
Oldest had moved out, so left myself and youngest with our own rooms.
Listened and worked on music, build models and took things apart to see how they 'ticked'.
"IN MY ROOM"
