A Suggestion Regarding Air Travel

I just wrote this to my family and will suggest the same to everyone here:

My suggestion is not to travel on an airline this year. They are not safe. A. Science Editor got the virus from being on an airline, he believes, and they are packing people in like sardines even though when they make reservations they tell them they'll be socially distanced.

It's best to wait till there is a vaccine and good medicines that either cure or stop the virus from killing people.

Sorry I think I got it wrong and it was not a doctor but a science editor for MSNBC. My sister corrected me.

I'm just giving a warning because I think it's very unsafe now to travel on airline when they are packing them in like sardines.

The airlines are going to HAVE to find ways to make travel safer, IF they want to stay in business. Presently, air travel is probably down by 90%, or more, and even the larger carriers are quickly running out of money. At the minimum, if/when this illness is brought under control, we can probably expect ticket prices to increase, substantially.

I saw an interview this morning on a person that word gloves and mask on his plane and got the virus. His guess is the eyes. I would never get on a plane, bus or train. Avoid the public. This could be the same person Ruthanne mentioned.

I would fly if I needed to but I wouldn't fly for fun.

If I did have a need to fly I would take the same basic precautions that we all should be following in our day to day life.

This might actually be a good time to fly with the spotlight on the airlines. I'm sure that they are doing everything within their power to prevent any incident that might discourage people from traveling.

They are not social distancing with seating. If someone coughs or sneezes many will be infected if not everyone. The air exchange is yet another issue. There Will also be those who won't wear a mask.

Fly at your own risk and best wishes that you are safe.

Cripes, I think air travel is the farthest from my mind right now even though I did have some planned trips this year. Sigh...I am more concerned about being able to go into stores in the mall that don't have curbside pick up. And libraries and used book stores.
