Pitmedden house was built in the 17th century with elaborate gardens from the same architect who designed the gardens of Holyrood in Edinburgh.
The house was largely destroyed in 1813 and not rebuilt until the mid 20th. century. The gardens have been reestablished in the style of the original 17th Cent design. They are just passing the peak of their beauty, but are still quite excellent.

Darling daughter said that nobody would notice her 'running wild'. Note the building in the background which is called The thunder house. This was an informal room where the gentlemen could gather for a drink and maybe a few games of cards.
