A walk in central london on a typical day in October

Wow, too crowded for me.
you wouldn't like it at Christmas then..:D you will notice however that there's very few seniors in the city centre, too crowded, too many tubes to have to take to get to where we have to go around town which means lots of escaltors and stairs, ... the people on the buses tend to be older folks as well as young .. usually going from one side of the city centre straight through to another suburb...

Thanks for the interesting street video.

That noted, for video content like that 45 minutes long by a blogger, it would be better to have had an index near the start into times various streets etc occur. Otherwise it is just another long video of unknowns without even text annotations or audio overdubbing explanations. Most audiences won't have patience to discover what is on such videos. YouTube has endless such videos because average persons lack editing skills so only dump their raw camera videos into some app that then automatically generates a basic video.

Thank you for the video. It is good to see London again, even if it is crowded! The charm of the city still persisted!
I used to go there a lot when I was younger, either with my mother or with my girl friends.

Just to show you all, this is a typical day in central London.. it's only October no special events happening.. but you can see how crowded it is.. so you can imagine what its like now during the christmas period....

feel free to jump through the video to any street you fancy visiting

@hollydolly , thanks, looks like a great walking tour to watch while on the treadmill. I've actually got a nice collection going of walking vids, thanks to @CallMeKate . head_bang.gif

carnaby st.jpg

Carnaby Street is a pedestrianised shopping street in Soho in the City of Westminster, Central London. Close to Oxford Street and Regent Street, it is home to fashion and lifestyle retailers, including many independent fashion boutiques.

Carnaby Street, in the early 1950's, was a shabby Soho backstreet consisting of rag trade sweat shops, locksmiths and tailors, and a Central Electricity Board depot practically took up one side of the street.

The genesis of Carnaby Street as a global fashion destination began with Bill 'Vince' Green, a male physique photographer. In 1954 he opened a small clothing boutique, Vince, in adjoining Newburgh Street, to capitalise on the body-building community that congregated around Marshall Street.

Those who modelled for the Vince catalogue and advertisements, boosting its popularity, were the then barely-known Sean Connery and the hugely popular handsome boxer, Billy Walker. To further attract custom, Green hired handsome young men as sales assistants, one of whom was the Glasgow-born John Stephen, who, later became known as: 'The King Of Carnaby Street.'

Thanks. Was wondering what all those segments on the timeline were.

Apparently YouTube added the timestamp feature 4 years ago. But without any obvious guide to implement it. Instead numbers of YouTube accounts gradually created videos how to do so. I went through several of those but with my YouTube Studio open, could not get any active timestamps to show into my Descriptions despite adding the syntax text. Eventually found I first needed to run a SAVE on a video that updated the video info and then open that video in another window for viewing.

Very useful feature I'm going to need to update most of my 35 videos for.

Very interesting. Some of us in the States get the impression from the news that London is crawling with Islamists. But I don't see any burqas or hijabs.

I used to love to go to England. But I haven't been over there since the 1970s.

Oh believe me there are cities in England which really are full up of Islamists etc.. London no so much surprisingly... the outer London suburbs have high proportions of Black people rather than Asians .. but Indians, Pakistanis' not so much...except one particular suburb.. Southall.. which is well out of the centre of the city, and they have all their own stores there to suit their needs...and is named Little India..

other than this places which have a high proportion of islam followers tend to be more in the North of England. or even the Midlands. Birmingham , Leicester.. and further north, Bradford and Leeds... ( West Yorkshire ) amng other places...

We had friends that visited us in Dallas for Thanksgiving. They are very active seniors. They flew to Rome right afterward and are now in London for Christmas. They really wanted to experience London during the holidays. They are avid travelers so they will feel right at home! Looks beautiful!

I noticed pedestrians crossing the street and walking in traffic lanes. Are these moves legal in London?
