A weird side effect from medication use

Got A Cracker?
I took a medication called Ivabradine and got a very weird side effect that effectively gave me strobe light vision in the dark. I would get after images of everything I had looked at incredibly strongly to the point I couldn't see where I was going or what I was doing if it was dark. Luckily these effects did go away but it took two days.

What's a weird side effect you got from medication use?

One of the meds I am taking has robbed me of my sense of taste, to the point that nothing I eat tastes the way I THINK it should. That results in my not wanting to eat much, after 2 or 3 spoons of food. Example, a can of soup, I can only get down about a third of it, before I have to push the bowl away.

I’ll have whatever you’re having!!!

I would love to find something that would blunt my appetite.

You don't want to suffer like I am, not being able to TASTE OR ENJOY any of the food I make to eat. Right now I am trying to drink about a half glass of Clamato juice, which tastes like glue. My breakfast cereal tastes like salty popcorn. I know that this is a direct side effect from one of the prescribed medications I am taking. I cannot stop taking the pills. JIM.

"Ivabradine can cause a temporary brightness in your vision, especially during the first 2 months of treatment. This can make you see halos around lights, see colors within lights, or see multiple images while looking at an object. You may also see kaleidoscope colors or flashes of movement in certain parts of your vision. Sudden bright light can make these vision changes more noticeable. These effects usually go away as you continue taking ivabradine or after you stop taking it."

I had to quit taking Ambien because it caused horrible nightmares and sleepwalking (I'd never sleepwalked before).
My sister was using Ambien and one night she got out of bed and moved all the heavy redwood lawn furniture, tables, etc. off the patio and all over the back yard. She's a tiny person. Normally, there's no way she could move that stuff. When she woke up the next morning, her bed was all dirty, her feet were muddy and she was absolutely covered with bruises and scrapes.

She had no memory of doing that.

I took Ambien for a while. It would typically take an hour to kick in.

I was at a conference, attending a cocktail party, and took an Ambien at 9pm, expecting it would kick in at 10pm. It was at a hotel. The next morning I woke up and my hotel room door was unlocked. I thought it was strange but thought nothing more of it. When I saw my co-worker the next day she told me we were chatting, my eyes rolled back into my head and someone had to escort me to my room. I've never lived it down to this day!

I also had a strange encounter at McDonald's near our house. I went through the drive-through one day and the cashier said "I'm not used to seeing you here during the day". Made me wonder if I was driving to McDonald's at night after taking Ambien.

A little more than a month ago, I started a new diabetes medication...Rybelsus. I started with 3 mg. which thankfully didn't cause the common symptom of nausea. A week ago the dosage was upped to 7 mg. I've noticed since starting the 3 mg, my feet were more sensitive to touch when the podiatrist was working on them. Since starting the 7 mg, seems my chest area is more sensitive.

I have a similar problem but don't know which medication to blame. I had a hunk of braunschweiger liverwurst recently which tasted pretty good. I wonder if part of my problem is the lack of salt. I try not to add any.

In response to posts about Ambien: I used Ambien for a couple years without incident. Gotta say- it would PUT me to sleep, but I wouldn't stay asleep any longer than other remedies. I currently take Trazodone(50mg), I drift off to sleep nicely, but only stay asleep as long as I'm going to, before the first bathroom trip.

I now take a combo of Trazadone and Naturemade Sleep & Recover. I take the Trazadone a few hours before I want to go to sleep and the gummies an hour before. I'm dead to the world. The only thing that wakes me up is our lawn man with his leaf blower outside my window. :ROFLMAO:

After my CHF I was told to check my BP for 90 days. The doctor about pooped himself when I showed the daily reading. Most days was 100/70. He immediately cut everything by 50%.

He asked me about effects. I did mention that as a smoker, I did cough sometimes and saw veiled black come down in my eyes then go back up.

"Sir, you were on the verge of passing out!" He exclaimed. "Oh, so that was what was happening" I said nonchalantly. I think the doctor wanted to strangle me.

Luckily I quit 3 years later.
