AARP provides FREE tax preparation services

For those who might be interested for next year, AARP provides FREE tax preparation services.

"AARP Foundation Tax-Aide provides free tax preparation in different ways – in-person, low-contact, or contact-free – depending on what service is available in your area. Some sites can provide service in one or two visits, or you may not need to visit a site at all, with all interactions taking place online. Brief descriptions of each service type offered at Tax-Aide sites are available by selecting the "Service Types" tab below.

There is no age, income, or AARP Membership requirement. Tax-Aide volunteers are located nationwide, and are trained and IRS-certified every year to make sure they know about and understand the latest changes and additions to the tax code."

I have had this done for about five years now. My taxes are kind of easy but I have a few quirks in it. Our local senior center offers it.

Also check your area town, unless you might be very rural.

There was senior tax prepare services provided in my town. My stepfather took advantage of that. Then with covid, it wasn't offered and he had to go pay a tax preparer. Too bad.

They were back this year but I had to request the appointment for him online and then they called me. Took about 3 weeks. Prior to covid it had been walk in with no appointment needed.
