Thought this was interesting.

A short video of Frontier Town, an abandoned wild west theme park located up in the Adirondack Region of New York. It opened in 1952 and was very popular for decades however the nineties came along with declining interest and financial troubles soon followed. Frontier Town closed its doors in 1997 / 98, and has been left to rot ever since.

Thanks! Very interesting to me since I'm from upstate NY, was an older teenager around that time & not interested in that type of thing then. Had to google up & see what happened. Eventually the county took it over for unpaid taxes, & NY State (Gov Cuomo) bought it & are working on developing a "Gateway to the Adirondacks" with camping & all sorts of amenities. In process of tearing it down.

So sad to see it in that condition. We took the kids their in the fifties. Had a ball. The part that stands out to me was the train ride. We were cruising along and all of a sudden a bunch of robbers came riding out of the woods and pretended to rob us.

North Pole and Enchanted Forest was a couple more we visited. I’ve got some old photos somewhere of Frontier town. See if I can find them. Thanks for posting this SB.

Interesting. You seem to have a gift for finding these really neat videos, SeaBreeze!

It looks to me like the state of the property was due mostly to mindless vandalism rather than neglect. It's good to hear it's being torn down. There was a potential lawsuit waiting at virtually every turn.

Yep, I was there in the mid-'60s. As I recall, we were on a stagecoach when the robbers came out. I think I have some photos also.

Thank you so much for posting this SeaBreeze. I remember all of it. Also I have a photo of the train Pappy mentioned. I remember the train robbery as well. These photos were taken in 1956. I was 11 then and I guess a bit old for it but I remember being scared out of my wits when the train was robbed. We has just been to Indian Village in the same area and I had beads on that my mom had bought me from there. I was certain the robbers were going to take them. When they weren't looking I took them off and sat on them.

These photos are from Frontier Town. The North Pole and Indian village. When we got back to the car they had wired on a banners from each place we visited. They hung in our garage for years.
