My BP has been inching up...level off, inching up...level off...You get the picture. White coat syndrome the whole bit.

I start feeling bad the other day at the bank....but one more stop & I'm headed home, which is what I do. As I turned into my driveway, I started gasping for air....cannot breathe , I knew I was in trouble.....911

At the hospital, after the storm settled , they tell me that my BP was 196/106 , and that it had come down since being in the ambulance ! OX /sat 82% [not good]

The short version of the long story is....medicine changes had allowed my BP to creep up & that caused my body to accumulate fluids at an alarming rate & amount. Causing a 'fog' to develop in my lungs.

They [by IV] loaded me with diuretics / lasix.... extra valsartin , & vitamins by mouth . Put me on 5% OX, then 3% , then off. The lasix of course had me peeing off the extra fluid , [by the gallon] brought down my BP & in 12-15 hours I'm feeling much better. But they did keep me overnight.

BP much improved 125/75 OX/sat 99-100 % on room air. @ the hospital.

Told to weigh myself daily , and start checking BP daily as well. Also suggested that I buy an OX meter [which I will]

At home this morning;.....BP 112/62 weight down 8 lbs.

My point PAY ATTENTION...slight movements toward a negative can add up quickly / slowly , but once THERE .....so is the problem ! In my case the problem was [all things considered] easily corrected. & I feel fine .

The medicine changes....I blame on my GP....of course we will never get one doc [at the hosp] to confirm / blame another ....but that is my opinion.

A change is being considered.

Glad you are feeling better. The outcome could have been much worse. I've taken various BP meds for 20 years, but never had the type of issues you're dealing with.

Never had your type issues either. I do take BP meds and check mine daily. I have a history of brain aneurysms so I am careful to take my BP changes seriously and let my PC know of any.

I was not able to access my usual blood pressure medication. A shortage in supply - not available for about 2 months.

I went to my doctor and he prescribed another, similar medication.

I started to have some side effects, which I thought would subside.

They didn't, and I ended up in hospital.

In hospital, I was constantly monitored, and the medication had left my system according to the blood reports. My blood pressure was in the normal range.

After I was released from hospital, I went back to my doctor, and after he viewed the reports he had from the hospital, I was taken off all blood pressure lowering medication.

Since then, I've taken my blood pressure twice a day, as recommended by my doctor.

It has stayed within the normal limits now for about a fortnight.
