About Feather/Down Pillows

Imagine a wet chicken....you CAN send them to a dry cleaner. As for replacing, I do so when they start getting lumpy. They last years before that happens usually. I'm on my 3rd pair in about 50 years.

Nope I don't wash my feather & down pillows .. apparently it's really bad for them,..

I do use pillow protectors and pillowcases which get washed every week... look here at what's said about washing feather & down pillows..

Yes I have checked around the net and get different stories.
I have never washed them, always replaced every ten years or so but the casing does get stained eventually even with protectors and mine are beginning to look a bit 'grungy'.

Just wondered what others did with them as people now seem to favour foam, plastic, whatever.

you would do well to read that link if you haven't already, it explains why they shouldn't be washed..

I had already seen that link and others. ...pro and cons....just wanted some personal trusted and tried opinions.
Down pillows are pretty expensive to replace.
I know...as I said I don't wash mine.. just the protectors and the pillowcases.. I throw mine out after about 6 or 7 years.. no matter how I washed or dried them, they didn't come out good

I've often been told to replace feather/down pillows every couple years.
I'm behind the curve on that, mainly because of the cost .. but I'm in the market for some new pillows right now too.

When I went to the Amazon.ca link, that pillow is $199 and they even have that same $89 in the info beside it.

It says it’s firm. The reason I loved down pillows from my youth was because they were so nice and thin.
