Are you satisfied with yours. I am not.
I am told by tree different specialists over the last ten years that I have 'moderate hearing loss in line with my age'

I am at present wearing the in ear buds which are supposed to be top notch and considering the cost they should be.
Mine allow me to raise the volume from one side , the right in my case, for TV and radio. Trouble is, when I raise the volume it also raises the volume in everything else. Fridge, heating system ,fans, neighbour's noises etc., etc., and when in stores the noise is horrendous so have to turn them down which means I cannot hear what peeps are saying. I still have to have captions on for some TV shows as voice definition , especially in women, is just not there.

The first ones I had were over the ear and small bud in ear which were even worse and they refused to stay in my ear especially now with having to wear mask.
I can have a conversation with a person if they are talking directly to me with no problem but once the bud is in I hear them and everything else that is going on around me so normal conversation is almost non existent.

Would love some feedback on this....eh!

Can they be adjusted to filter out other sound/noise? If they are top of the line, they should have that feature.

My husband's hearing aids stopped working months ago. He begrudges the cost of new ones, though we can afford it. He took them apart, cleaned them and put them together again - they are now working. He's a happy camper, and so am I, not to have to keep repeating myself.
 
I'm getting to the stage where I need them now because if I am in company where there is background noise I find that I struggle to pick up individual voices.

No they cannot be filtered for different sounds.
clean mine often and even have a little box which humidifies them....don't ask me what for :unsure:
A lot depends on what your hearing loss is caused by
I have top of the line and they have been so called 'adjusted' several times.
 
DH has hearing aides and wears them faithfully, but I'm still his best hearing aide. My mother was a deaf mute when I was 5 she left my father and me. So I was raised by my grandparents, it took them years to turn my volume down. Now I find I am once again speaking very loudly but no grandparents to turn me down.

We are lucky the Workmen's Comp pays for the hearing aides and batteries and repairs. He can get new ones every 5 years if needed.

Yes that was and still is my problem. The buds just enhance the background noise as well. I try not to get involved in company conversations. A point to discuss when you do get to the audiologist for your first shot at them.nodding.gif

Great...I don't have a smart phone but makes me wonder why audiologist cannot produce that for in ear buds ?
All I can do is adjust volume right on the bud and that adjusts every other sound around
 
I think most all hearing aids come with problems, no matter what they cost...I guess it boils down to what you can live with, I've wore them for many years, bought the last two sets from Costco, they were Resounds too....I'm satisfied with them, Costco and the aids....are they perfect...no, but I have to have them, the first set from them had wifi and I had to wear a thing around my neck to adjust them, well that didn't last long...this last set is much better, still has wifi, that I find drops off every once in a while and its gets to be bothersome to reconnect.....with all that being said, I found Costco has best prices and service.
 
I have been wearing hearing aids for a few years now. Yes, I can talk with one of 2 people and it's OK. However, in a crowd of people, I feel like I want to go home. There is just a big buzz of noise. My brother agrees with me. Now, with these stupid masks it is almost impossible for me to understand anyone since it feels like they are mumbling behind their masks. I get very upset when I read young people posting, "What is the big deal with wearing masks?" Ya, get yourself hearing aids and you will quickly learn what "the big deal" in wearing a mask is!
 
It seems like you spent a lot of money but didn't get much. My husband has had his Miracle Ear aids for over 8 years. He can adjust background noise, etc., and it's old technology. They've been great and even though ME store here has told him he needs to upgrade them, he doesn't want to spend the money because these work just fine for him. He's had to have an inner part replaced a couple times over the years. It cost $300 each time, but that was far cheaper than buying new ones. He cleans them on a regular basis.
 
I think this is experienced by many with these devices.
My Husband has been avoiding them based on all the above mentioned problems.
I still hope to convince him that in one on one situations and with family the conversations he is missing now are worth all the constant play with the hearing aids for background noise.
 
I've had my aids for 16 years and had them tweaked many times. I think the hearing aid companies promise much more than they can deliver. All this about blocking out background noise is BS. How would the circuit distinguish between noise and speech? All it can do is break sounds up into frequency ranges and adjust each range to match your hearing loss. When the audiologist tests your hearing, how many tones do they try? That's how many ranges your aids can adjust. Usually it's about 5 or 6. In fact, your hearing may have sharp nulls at certain frequencies, and averaging them out isn't the ideal fix.

My aids have front and back microphones. So, they can supposedly cancel out noise from the rear. It doesn't work. I was also told that I could wear them while using power tools and they would block them out. B.S. You may notice that the claims they make have no numbers or other data to support them.

When you lose the little hair cells in your cochlea that vibrate to different frequencies, nothing is going to bring them back. All you can do is crank up the volume for the weak ones.

I have Beltones. When I first noticed my hearing problem, I had an MRI scan of my head. I was hearing sounds garbled, and the doctor thought it could be the sign of something serious. It wasn't.

The Beltone people have never charged me anything for follow up tests or replacing ear tubing. But they always try to sell me a new version.
 
I have a Starkey in ear aid, I had to buy a newer smartphone
in order to adjust the volume, the main inconveniences I have
found is the hair growing in my ear pushes it out, I got a cutter
for that and when eating, the chewing action also gets it moving!

as for watching the TV, I bought an optical to audio device from
Amazon, one with a volume control knob, be careful about that,
an extension audio cable, into which I plug mobile phone ear buds,
I had to get the optical set-up, or nobody else would hear anything
from the TV as any earphones will cut out the set audio.
