About your middle name ...

What I carry as a middle name was the given name of my Welsh G.Grandfather. It has caused me a bit of bother over the years because of the spelling (a double L at the beginning of a name is uncommon in these parts) and many folks see it as a girls name. Hence I don't use it much although why I selected it for my SF username is a bit of a puzzle even to me.

I like my middle name; it is my father's first name. I have used it a couple of times during my life as my first name. Which is common and maybe a heritage within the family I live. Some family members did not care for their first name, so they opted to go by their middle name. A gal I knew in the past had the middle name of K and that is it just the letter K. I found that quite interesting for I had never heard of that before.

I like my middle name, but not when I was growing up. Turns out, there is both a paternal and maternal grandfather both having it as a first name. I gave it to my son as well. As an adult, he asked me why, I explained and he gained a positive outlook on his middle name.

Edit: forgot to mention, I actually have two middles names, one birth and one baptismal. I like them both.

I have two also. One baptismal and the second confirmation which I chose for myself at age twelve. I like the one I chose for myself. :giggle:

I have the same first and middle name as my late father. My middle name is Carl. My grandmother once told me that when my father was born, she thought about having my father's middle name be spelled the German way with a K. I never use my middle name or the Junior at the end of my name. My middle initial is on my credit card and some of my mail.

I'd toss it, and I've tried to do so. It's my understanding that we can use whatever name we want, as long as it's not for fraudulent purposes. But it isn't that easy.

As a teenager, I insisted on having a social insurance card without my middle name. Ten years later the card was stolen, and they issued a new one with it.

When I graduated from university, again I had to insist on not having my middle name on the paper. I never use it, so why have it?
