I wasn't sure where to post the following story, so I decided to stick it here. If it needs moved, I am sure the moderator will move it. I am posting the following story for those that like reading true to life stories that don't always end well.
Like I have written and posted on this forum previously, a few of us retired State Troopers get together for breakfast once a month or so. (Now and then, we must skip a month.) So, yesterday at breakfast, we were talking about vehicle accidents that we investigated. Here is a short recap of the accident that I spoke about.
Twenty years ago, I assisted with the investigation of a motor vehicle accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike involving a Greyhound bus and two semi-tractor trailers. The bus was en route from New York City to Pittsburgh. I was the first on the scene and took charge of the location, until the lead Investigator arrived.
According to my journal, twenty-four people, including the driver, were onboard the bus. I also later found out through my investigation that the driver was making his last trip before retirement from Greyhound, so his wife and son accompanied him and unfortunately, both were also killed in the accident along with four other passengers.
There were two tractor trailers parked along the Turnpike in a pull-off area, which is completely legal here in Pennsylvania. The two occupants of the first tractor trailer were injured, but the lone occupant of the second tractor trailer was not.
The NTSB investigated the accident and their report and findings may be found at the following web address. (Please read the NTSB report. I found it to be very interesting. In fact, I had not found out the cause of the accident until a year later.)
