Accidently got locked out

now, I twist the handle to make sure it's unlocked.

I have but one of my upstairs neighbors has my key and luckily she was home. If she wasn't, I would have had to wait for my son to get home from work. I'm thinking I must've lost the key because I literally can't lock myself out of our apartment. The bottom lock is taped over and we only use the deadbolt lock, which has to be locked with the key. What did you do?

I've never locked myself out. But I keep my rear window unlock at all time just in case. I live in a very safe neighborhood and I don't keep any valuables in the house.

I do that too plus I wear my lanyard with my keys on it when I go outside.

I wouldn't want to intrude on many of my neighbors, who are busy people and who are "good acquaintances", but not friends. Some still work. Now that one who lives in the building across the courtyard has become my Honorary Son/creative collaborator, if he's home, I could go there anytime, but again he has busy days. But it's a moot point now because I've been wearing my keys around my neck. Sometimes I put them either in a zipped pocket or my pouch if I'm picked up and heading off by car.

I would bother my neighbors if I was in danger after being locked out and had no phone to call for help. I wouldn't want to but I would. IDK if they'd help me or not.

Have you ever locked yourself out of the house by accident?

If so, what did you do?

Was in the garage, set up spackle and mix plus wall fill and punched a hole under the switch then unlocked kitchen door and repaired everything.

After that, hid 4 keys in various locations.

Yes, had to climb over the 4ft wrought iron gate in to my backyard where I had left the screen door unlocked to my opened slider. Whew!

First & only time, made 5 copies @ home depot. 1in combo-locked shed, 1each for wife & I, 1 is held by our DD & 1 in the < $10 key rock in the garden.
