Acquaintance or Friend On TV

Here I sit watching one of those crime shows on TV and who do I see being interviewed? My former commander of a barracks at a state police region in PA. Have you ever had this type of experience? Really caught me off guard to say the least, but it was nice to see him again. It's funny how we lose contact with people that we like and have respect for after we are apart. I was transferred and never saw him after that.

A lot of times I see mug shots of people I know on the news, or being escorted into or out of court / jail .......... they always look so cute in their little orange jammies ...................

Years ago I was visiting a friend in another state and I knew she was a “Jeopardy!” fanatic. Rarely, if ever, missed it. We were watching while eating one night and she saw one of the contestants was childhood friend (who did well in the game).

I’ve seen (or heard news stories about) several people I know on TV, but one of the more bizarre instances was about 10 yrs ago. I came home from work, turned on the news, just in time to see a former work associate – actually he was an attorney – getting charged with embezzling from a client, forgery, and money laundering. Soon the phone rang - I wasn't the only one who saw the story.

Also saw a news story about an acquaintance winning millions in the state lottery.

One time I worked in a pharmacy and there was this tall, heavily made up woman walking through. Customers were stopping to talk to her briefly and you could see her presence was creating a stir. She got to the register and I rang her up. Maybe it was the stage makeup but I didn't think much of her. Only a few months later when my hubby was flipping channels did I see her again...Wendy Williams, meh, who knew.

Yeah, I’ve sometimes caught Wendy’s talk show. Used to think she was tacky, but she’s okay. She talks about how she lives in New Jersey and sometimes goes out shopping. Her famous greeting is “How YOU doin’?”

Nah actually the native pronunciation comes out "Howyadoin". She lives in Livingston...so much money they don't know what to do with it. Suppose she's uh hem "keepin' it real".

Something I found amusing...maybe it's the stage makeup but in real life she looks more Caucasian than me...I'm Welsh so that's difficult to do...I dunno, she reminds me of a drag queen. I will have to watch that show sometime for fun.

Yeah, fur, I've seen/heard similar comments. Wendy's show is a lot of celebrity gossip, but she's gained quite a following and has some really decent contests and cash prizes. Last few times I watched seemed that she's getting a better caliber of guests. I kinda like "Ask Wendy" where she goes into the audience and people ask her advice about something. She is DEFINITELY a straight-shooter, no chaser. (uhoh....sounds like I'm becoming a Wendy fan...) :)

I've had that same impression, but as once said on Seinfeld "not that there's anything wrong with that". ;) I'm not into celebrity gossip, but had watched her show a couple times in the employee lunch room.

I have an acquaintance who does voice work for the cartoon Family Guy on a regular basis, and a friend who has done some appearances on various shows (probably for her California good looks), but that's about it.
