His best known movie role was in the Oscar winning film'Chariots of Fire' '81 which is based on a true story Two British runners competing at the 1924 Olympics.Cross plays'Harold Abrahams'a Jewish Cambridge student.Ian Charleston plays'Eric Liddell,a devout Scottish missionary.The opening sequence of the movie shows British team running on a beach

It's a bit sad to see actors and other entertainers pass on

I just went through his filmography. The only thing I ever saw him in was Chariots of Fire. Sounds like he had a long, interesting career.
