He played opposite Bea Arthur who played'Maude'
The show was a spin off from "All In The Family,"Maude was Edith Bunker's cousin

Excellent actor. I liked his character and disliked Bea Arthur's Maude. Too loud and insulting and not funny to me. Contrast that to Redd Fox's Sanford who was also loud, insulting, but very funny.
So many actors and celebrities we grew up are gone now. Some did not live past their 60s. And some are immortalized on reruns and films, some totally forgotten.
