He was great in "Unforgiven." Also in a little David Mamet film called Heist. And I loved him in The Birdcage. But French Connection, Hoosiers and Bonnie and Clyde stand out.

He had a reputation for trying to throw his weight around on shoots. I suppose that was a cover for what he really was. Ironic that he may have been both literally, and figuratively a fellatioist.

He's one of my favorites, too. I love "Hoosiers" for many reasons (high school basketball!) but my favorite of his is "The Conversation." His performance is great and the message of the movie has always stayed with me-- that when we take things out of context, or don't hear the exact words, we can get an idea about someone or something that is entirely wrong.
