My #1 all time favorite movie actor,Gene Hackman is 91 today,I've loved him for yrs
I've seen most of his movies,as with every great actor he's appeared in some awful movies' e.g. 'All Night Long','81,Loose Cannons''90
I have a couple favorites
The French Connection '71
Hoosiers' '86
Mississippi Burning' 88
The Package'89
Narrow Margin'90
Class Action'91
Crimson Tide'95
He appeared in a brief scene as the blind hermit in Mel Brooks' funny movie'Young Frankenstein'74
He has 2 Oscars,Best Actor for'French Connection,best Supp actor for'Unforgiven '92
For years,he did the voice over for United Airlines
He retired from acting in 2004

It's been astonishing to see the ages of celebrities I've watched for so long....even though I realize I've been watching them for a long time and they were older than me back then. :D HBD Gene.

He was great in "Unforgiven." Also in a little David Mamet film called Heist. And I loved him in The Birdcage. But French Connection, Hoosiers and Bonnie and Clyde stand out.

He's one of my favorites, too. I love "Hoosiers" for many reasons (high school basketball!) but my favorite of his is "The Conversation." His performance is great and the message of the movie has always stayed with me-- that when we take things out of context, or don't hear the exact words, we can get an idea about someone or something that is entirely wrong.
