Actor Robert Mandan, who's best known TV role was 'Chester Tate' on ABC sitcom'Soap" '77-'81, which was a spoof on soap operas has died after a long illness. He was 86.
I remember watching this show,it was funny, show centered on 2 families, the wealthy 'Tates' and the 'blue collared' Campbells. It had a great cast:
Katherine Helmond played"Chester's ditsy wife'Jessica',Mary Damon played Jessica's sister'Mary Campbell',her husband"Burt' was played by late,Richard Mulligan, late Robert Guilliame played "Benson" the Tates servant and cook who always had something amusing to say
R.I.P Robert

Great show, great cast. When it was in its heyday my neighbor was part of the writing team. He had a "Free Jessica Tate" bumper sticker on his car when that character was in jail.

Thanks for the quick trip down memory lane.
