Actors who didn’t get the part (thank goodness)

Been killing time watching “Casting Calls” on IMDB, which discusses famous roles in movies and which actors auditioned for or were offered parts but, ultimately, went to the person who actually played the role. Fascinating stuff. I can *almost* see Sean Connery as Gandalf in LoTR but Nicholas Cage as Aragorn??? Horrors! Lol

Which of your favorite movie roles nearly went to a different/wrong actor? Is is there a movie role you would recast?

I can't imagine anyone more perfect for Scarlett O'Hara than Vivian Leigh. Or Clark Gable for Rhett Butler. When you read the book, Margaret Mitchell is describing them to a 'T.'

I read one time that in the movie "The Note Book"
Britney Spears auditioned for the leading role of
Allie Calhoun, which was given to Rachel McAdams. Other stars that were turned

down for the part include Reese Witherspoon and Ashley Judd.

Impeccably cast

With one exception;

the lady (Josephine, played by Dana Delany) that became Earp's main squeeze, was ill fit IMO

a bit mouse like in the smile dept

woulda been a better fit in An American Tale

Tom Selleck did a screen test for'Indiana Jones' but had to turn it down because he couldn't get out of his contract on 'Magnum,PI'. I can't picture anybody but Harrison Ford in the role
Selleck appeared in a couple movies,the only one which was a big hit he co starred with Ted Danson,Steve Guttenberg'Three Men and a Baby'
