Acupuncture Works

For the past several weeks I've been getting an acupuncture treatment every Wednesday. For the past 3 weeks, I haven't needed my afternoon pain medication At All. My doctor told me to keep taking it on schedule for the next 90 days and if I'm still where I don't need it, she'll reduce the dosage from 3X/day to 2X/day.

I'm telling you, the acupuncture is working! My every day pain was down by at least 40% a couple weeks ago and it keeps getting better. For 4 hours or so in the afternoon I have no pain at all. None. It's freaking awesome! And the rest of the day, mornings and evenings, the pain isn't bad. Like I said, a solid 40% less than it was.

And there are other benefits. I'm walking faster, my posture is way better, my appetite is back, and my bowels are back on schedule. And those excruciating leg and foot cramps I've complained about on here? I was getting those 2 to 5 times a day, mostly at night, and they bordered on intolerable. They happen maybe once a week now, and they're not at all severe. Lil ol' cramp now and then. No biggie, I can walk it off within a couple minutes.

I'm feeling so good.

I've had acupuncture that works and acupuncture that didn't help at all. Glad it's working for you in the specific areas for which you are being treated. In my case, it did wonders for a shoulder, but nothing for lower back.

ps--what pain medication are you on?

I don't expect 100% relief for my back because one of the problems is an actual neurological deformity. But then, I didn't expect any relief at all.

You sound like a happy man!

Norco. That's almost Vicodin. Nice if you're on the correct dose.

Anyway, in the late '90's I fell on my right shoulder in a parking lot, hitting the cement divider. Hurts to this day. I saw stars, and not the Hollywood kind.
Yeah, it's 10mg hydrocodone and 325mg acetaminophen.

A few years ago I was on morphine for the second time, so I've come a long way. I put in a lot of work over the past 20 years to get here. Lots of physical work. I've challenged myself with as much intense exercise as I could tolerate. But it's paying off.

I'm glad acupuncture works for those of you who have gotten relief. Unfortunately for me it did no good for my many injuries. The clinic and office was very nice and relaxing, though. 😎

I had major back surgery right after my accident (a 60ft or so drop from a rocky ridge onto a rocky shore) and 3 surgeries over the years since. They helped a lot, incrementally. Acupuncture probably wouldn't do much for me if not for that, and the last surgery especially.

IMO, Acupuncturists and chiropractors are extremely undervalued. I haven't been to either for years but hold them in high regard!
I was going to an excellent chiropractor about 20 years ago. He was Chinese. The treatments were working, but one day he smoothed his hand over my lower back and then held it in one spot for a minute. He said I had a ruptured disk, and that it was ruptured toward the anterior side of my body rather than the posterior side - so, toward the spinal column, which I guess is kind of unusual and also makes chiropractic treatments risky so he stopped seeing me.

My doctor ordered imaging, and the chiropractor was exactly right. I had to have another surgery. It amazes me that Dr Li, the chiropractor, diagnosed an anterior rupture with his hand! That's some mystical crap right there.

Very glad to hear it!

Agree. Plus they are extremely qualified. Chiropractors have intensive training and years of university education.
