Advice You Delight in Ignoring

So I'm reading this article about items you should never leave on your front porch for a long time and some I agree with like broken stuff. But then they got to the "tacky" items they don't think you should have on a porch and here's the pic they used(!):

I think these are cuter than 9 kinds of h*ll (as my dear, departed MIL used to put it :ROFLMAO: )! I love these and if you could rig up some kind of motion-detector thing to it that'd play the Can Can, wouldn't that be great? (I'm serious; I really like these; I'm going to look for them online.)

Now if you disagree with me and think these are indeed tacky but have a good enough joke about it, I'll allow it, lol.

I recently read an article on things to get rid of to streamline your home. Much of what was recommended is worth ignoring. I'm keeping my plants and books for now. Too many advice pieces written by people just trying to accumulate words.

I know; the older I get the more things I delight in ignoring, lol. (I mean, get rid of books?! Horrors! :ROFLMAO: )

I'll decide what to display on my front porch, side porch, and/or back porch. “They” can mind their own business. I'm sick of “they” always telling people what to do. 🤨 Who do “they” think they are? The Porch Police?! 👮‍♂️

@officerripley - If you want a trio of high-stepping ducks dancing the can-can on your front porch, go for it!

Bella, we have a lot of those people here in my town.....

Our front porch only has a rocking chair and a sickly petunia right now (waiting to get it power washed) but I love all my neighbors with cute stuff. Right across the street is a porch out of a fairy tale with Hansel and Gretel, lots of gnomes, a tree covered in hearts, etc. I love it.
Another neighbor has a porch goose with a bigger wardrobe of dresses than I have. I always look forward to her seasonal changes.

Those Can-Can dancing ducks

are the perfect 'bling' for this porch.

It amazes me how many online articles are written by people who want to give advice about clearing excess items in the home, and one of the first things they want us to chuck out, are books. Obviously, they are not book lovers and shouldn't be giving advice that is best kept to themselves.

I love re-reading favorites and marveling over how long I have owned them, or remembering how and where I acquired them.
