I'm doing summer cleaning now. Hubby was always a pack rat. I mean it was charming when he could pull up the diner receipt from our first date, not so much when he had supermarket receipts from oh twenty years to the present. But the bedroom drawers are long overdue for a good sorting.

So very much junk but some things...I mean you give a big smile and could almost cry, there's so much meaning in some objects. Some pictures-my mom in the early 40's and she must have sent my Dad a picture where he was stationed. It's hard to read her script but something about her shoes.

Then there was an envelope addressed to my husband's grandmother. The first grandson in an Italian family. They must have taken his picture every waking minute. This envelope had him with Santa and the Easter Bunny, later his baby sister too. He was a cute kid...our kids took after him.

Forgotten jewelry, I have enough bracelets for the rest of creation. My aunt never had daughters and knew a few years ago that her days here were numbered. She started sending me her favorite pins. Like I collect bracelets she collected dress pins. A lot of love went into her picking them out.

Now a song I've always enjoyed...Glenn is still foxy

Must be heartwarming to find old things that mean so much Fur. :sentimental: Good feeling to to get some of that much needed cleaning and organizing done, something always on my to do list that doesn't always get done. Great old song too by the way!

My wife has some old 'trinkets' that were her mother's. One is a hand crafted brooch given to her during the war guy an American GI. It's engraved 'Mizpah' on the reverse. Wonder what happened to him....

I had forgotten about "mizpah" jewelry. It was all the rage when I was a kid.....you got a mizpah charm that broke in two and gave the other half to your best friend, so you were each wearing half a charm.

Learn something new every day...I never heard of mizpah jewelry before

My husband was a saver too. The worst is the shed, I have been working on that, little by little but it is a dirty job and exhausting. Getting there. It has taken years.
