AI for Health Diagnosis

Do you put your health info into AI to help you understand it - heavily redacted of course, so it can’t identify you.

Do you trust the answer?

Yep. I got this weird rash on my head with itchy bumps and I used ChatGPT to help diagnose it since it was getting really bad. I asked if maybe the shampoo I was using might have caused it. It turned out there was a class-action lawsuit against the manufacturer for that very reason!

My chat with AI was about three weeks ago. I quit using that shampoo that day and the rash is now nearly completely cleared up with just a few little itchy bumps left, so AI was right.

In case anyone is interested in the shampoo, it was Suave Professionals Moisturizing Shampoo for Dry Hair Almond and Shea Butter. The funny thing is, I've been using that shampoo for probably 15 years with no problem. It was just the last batch (4-pack) that gave me the rash. Maybe they changed the formula or something. 🤔

I listened to two different folks on a podcast today. I‘m doing a brief and probably not totally accurate retelling.

One showed ChatGPT the rash on her face. She also had blood tests and since it was Friday she wasn’t able to get in touch with her doctor. Chat told her get straight to the hospital, told her what to say to the medical staff. It was something rare and very serious. She was dealt with faster and better, because of knowing what to tell the doctors. It saved her life.

The second one used Chat and was misinformed what procedure was needed for her husband’s blocked artery. The doctor told her she was wrong and she was. It doesn’t mean it hurts to have them explain what’s needed.

I put the doctor speak of the reports in to get a translation to human speak. If i have questions I ask my doctor. I would never take any health advice from AI. Make that any advice.
Yeah, I pasted the Radiologist report of my wrist MRI into AI and told it to translate it. Minor strain of a ligament, may take a long time to heal. A few weeks later I was in a doctors office on a referral and he immediately starts talking about wrist restraint and working to scare me that my wrist might fall apart. I say wait a minute, the Radiologist described this as a minor sprain, and he says "what did he say" ... the jerk had not even looked at the Radiology report.
