All Night Diners

We spent tons of times in all night diners. Either after the evening shift at the hospital or when the bars closed, after a night of pub crawling.

These images are from the movie Diner, and the second one depicts just how they did look inside, table side juke box et al.

I once lived in the largest town in the Kimberley WA. right across from an all night petrol station - I was prone to like sittin out on our raised porch until 2am with a few bourbons and cigars. No outside lighting on and the mist rising up through the slatted floorboards - magical - Often a group of raucous youngsters would walk right past our high metal fencing and a few yards of lawn. I had become invisible as was my wish - maybe they could get a niff of the cigars? but no discourse ever took place. The connections? - they sold take away fries and chicken - no indoor seating!!
 
Naw, I'm out in the sticks; no diners at all around here and the few good coffee shop type restaurants aren't even open for dinner, they close at 3:00 p.m. usually.

I love driving around town during the wee hours of the morning when it's quiet/ no traffic...etc. I'd love it if there was a 24 hour diner nearby. The nearest is downtown and I'm more in the suburbs. But nothing beats an all-night diner with an all-day breakfast.

Are there any of these types of establishments in your area? And do you frequent them?

I think with the crime in the bigger cities, no one would want their diner to be open 2 o'clock in the morning. Who would want to work there with just 1 or 2 other employees there with them?

Looks like you and I are two of the Nighthawks on this forum. Perhaps we could hang out here in this Virtual Diner and shoot the breeze when we both show up during the wee hours of the new day. :)
