I'm a child of the 50s & 60s. Back then, if you wanted to be a " gore-met", you used two different kinds of Campbell soups together. So, I was watching one of those healthful cooking shows. They were making quick and easy sandwiches. You started by cutting up some kind of cabbage I never heard of. Then you need these special French rolls. Of course, come on, only one kind of Bavarian sausage would do. Domestic sausage was tres gauche. Again, you add in a bunch stuff like the stuff that only comes from the east side of a mountain in Tibet. After 30 minutes, six pans, foil wrap, and using a griddle (apparently using a grill is frowned upon, or maybe it's the other way around), VOILA, you have a quick and easy sandwich, and it only took about one hour of shopping, 3/4 hour cooking, and another hour of cleaning up.
I can zap a big ol' juicy dog, with fixins, in a warm bun in 2 min. 1 plate, 1 knife.
