I think of all the ladies in my family, and elsewhere including here that way!

My grandmother, definitely.

We didn't see each other often, and we didn't ever clash. But she was so regal, etc., and I'm more of a flake. So we didn't get along all that well.

My Great Aunt Bessie .. we didn't have much of a relationship, she had no kids of her own and couldn't relate to them, but she was kind enough. She was a French Polisher, and was always very polished herself.. Bouffant Blonde Hair , which she wore always with silk ribbons .

I'd have to say my aunt. I loved her dearly but you did things "her way" if you knew what was good for you. It was just easier in the long run.

My Grandmother was the Matriarch. A farm woman, yes she was, but she had intelligence, dignity, poise and wisdom. She was beautiful when she was a young lady and she was a beautiful person as an older woman.

No matriarchs in my family. My Grandma wasn't regal, and neither was my Oma. They were too busy laughing to be dignified.

My grand aunt Agnes,my Grandma's sister.She was always dressed well,spoke well and seemed refined.
My Grandma on the other hand was blue collary grandfather was killed in a coal mine and she raised 5 kids alone but I loved her dearly,she raised my brother and I,Mom died when we were kids.

I admired my Mom, she was intelligent, talented.. excellent seamstress..she made our clothes growing up, painted...I have her paintings.. beautiful landscapes of the areas where we lived...a famous bridge in our town...great cook..
could sit down at the piano..and just play..no lessons.
She was quite a Dame! And pretty, too!
