Always wanted to visit San Francisco.. but can't?

I've never been to that part of the US, though my daughter has been to San Francisco a couple of times. She says here favourite city is Chicago, but I've only been there on a stop over on the way to Minnesota. I don't think I'll be back in the US - long haul flights have no appeal.
My daughter also has been to California.. To San Francisco, and to Fremont, where she has friends.. She's been to New York city as well...

I have never been to the USA at all.. but 2 dear friends on this forum have offered to host me if I'd like to take them up on their offer which is super kind . Maybe one day I will

I went to LA twice to do Martial Arts stuff in 1999. First on my own and the second time I took my then 9 year old daughter. I'd promised myself a trip up to SF the second time but, well, you know how it is. 9 year old girlie wanted to see Shamu in San Diego 🤷‍♂️🐋

I was living out in California during the summers of 1971 and 1972 (or was it 1970 and 1971?). The 2nd summer I went to San Francisco. But lasted only 2 days. It was around 40°F, in July. The clerk at the hotel that I was staying in told me it always gets like that at that time of the year, since the city is near the bay. So I got on a bus and went down to Los Angeles and eventually Hollywood.

When husband had a convention meeting there, the taxi he was in had a wreck and they had an earthquake which shook the hotel he was in. He was more than ready to leave.
