According to my dental hygienist every disease known to mankind is caused by not flossing your teeth.

In recent years, a growing number of scientific studies have backed an alarming hypothesis: Alzheimer's disease isn't just a disease, it's an infection.

While the exact mechanisms of this infection are something researchers are still trying to isolate, a litany of papers argue the deadly spread of Alzheimer's goes way beyond what we used to think. Now, scientists are saying they've got one of the most definitive leads yet for a bacterial culprit behind Alzheimer's, and it comes from a somewhat unexpected quarter: gum disease. In a new paper led by senior author Jan Potempa, a microbiologist from the University of Louisville, researchers report the discovery of Porphyromonas gingivalis – the pathogen behind chronic periodontitis (aka gum disease) – in the brains of deceased Alzheimer's patients.

Could be something to that as there is info about Grape Seed Ex reducing amyloid plaque on the brain and my brain is good at 80 and have NOT been to a dentist in 7 yrs now and I do floss but believe in the antioxidants and the work they are doing.

Most recent studies find there is no strong evidence that flossing is actually beneficial. I have flossed, religiously, for the last forty years. All I have to show for it is receding gums.

I use a plastic pic type tool used as a flosser. Doesn't really rub the gums, grape seed ex keeps the gums tip top. No receding here.

You may be brushing too "vigorously". My periodontist told me to use a soft toothbrush and not be so enthusiastic.

Best thing for gun disease is plain old hydrogen peroxide. We have used it for years. Brush with it with soft toothbrush, never scrub your teeth it causes gun problems. Not recommended it just saying what we do, I've never had gum disease. Also haven't used tooth paste in over 40 years, only baking soda , sometimes salt and couple times a week H.P.

SLS is found in many commerical toothpastes and could be causing a lot of gum issues.. I have not used commercial TP in years as I make up my own coconut oil TP and add either clove drops or tea tree oil drops. I lightly rinse with H.P. just about every night before bed.

H2O2 may be a causative factor for some oral cancers, according to some studies. The same goes for alcohol-containing mouthwashes. I only use salt, and never brush vigorously. Unfortunately, I have flossed vigorously, in the past. Commercial toothpastes used to cause painful canker sores in my mouth. Haven't used them in forty years. We all need to find those things that work for us. We're all different.
