Am I the only person in the world who listens to 45 records?

Oh boy, I remember the joy of buying a brand new 45 for 79cents! Some of my firsts were from Beatles, Herman's Hermits, Rolling Stones, Paul Revere and the Raiders and of course, Pictures of Matchstick Men from the Status Quo.
 
"Old and in the Way?" I LOVE your moniker! Yes, I remember that! 79 cents at Woolworths. My friends used to STEAL records and I was HORRIFIED!

My allowance was a dollar a week- huge money for doing chores. For each week that meant 79 cents for one 45 and 15 cents for baseball cards. I saved 6 cents a week and felt like a little king.

So sad to hear the ex threw away your 45 collection.

We have a few.
 
He threw away boxes and boxes of them. I hid one box of my favs under the bed and still play them. From the time I was 13, I collected the top 10 every week (the Hit Parade?) remember that? My first ones were Buddy Holly Peggy Sue, Duane Eddy Guitar Boogie Shuffle and Little Richard Jenny, Jenny. Oh! and Green Door. All before your time!
 
I still listen to my 45s but not the records. A couple of years ago, I took time to find all 300+ 45s in my collection on You Tube. I added them to playlists and can now listen without the hassle of using a turntable. In addition, my son told me about an app called Clip Grab. Due to the fact that sometimes YT videos disappear for one reason or another, I used Clip Grab to save my favorites the to hard drive on my computer. I added them to my Google Photos which serves as a back up, plus plays each video on repeat (which I sometimes like to do) until I stop it. My DJ son was delighted to find that he inherited a bunch of 45s before I die.

I gave mine away when I went to live in Canada ..silly stupid me -but we have a lot of
LPs from famous groups especially beatles,,stones kinks.- but will have to treat myself to a record player '
to play them ..
 
I'm stuck in 1963/64. Yeah, I had a big box of 45s. I used to play them at our weekly dances in the gym. I'm not sure what happened to them. I do notice that ad people use a lot of 60s music in ads. I often wondered how these much younger admen even heard of some of music-they weren't even twinkles in their grandfathers fathers eyes, when the music came out. I'm not a purist, I can listen to a 45 ,or a digital copy.

I ddi exactly the same thing with my albums some time after CD's first came out .. I honestly and truly thought we'd never have any way of playing them ever again. I kept the 45's but little did I know that the Albums would become collectors items later on down the line and people would be paying mega money for them...
