Amazon Alexa's Emergency Response Service is a failure.

I am a huge Amazon fan. I have two Echo Show devices. One is in the bedroom and one is in the living room. I was excited to see that Amazon offered a service called Alexa Together. You could ask Alexa to get help. You would setup the service to suit your needs. Sounds easy. right?! Wrong.

I never got any instructions from Amazon. I looked online, and found incorrect instructions. I asked Alexa for help, and she said she didn't know what I meant. I had the service, on a one-month trial basis, and never figured how to use it. I got an email saying my free time was finished, and cancelled it. Then I hunted around online for info, again. I finally found what looked like the first step for setup. Then I couldn't remember where I found it. No service should be that hard to use.

Earlier, I found a company that provided emergency alert systems. They offered a service that would work with Alexa. I tried to sign up for the service. I was told my name was not found. They couldn't find me because I had never registered. I called Customer Service for the alert company. They told me to call Amazon. I dug around further and gave up.

I have an alert system, but it's not tied to any tech such as Alexa.

Talking of Alexa, I saw a video today that showed two girls, aged 8, ordering a bunch of knives from Amazon UK through their parents Alexa. Sheesh.

They also ordered multiple boxes of rat killer.

It sounds like those girls were anticipating a homicidal rage party.

I have an iPhone 13. I can tell "Siri" to call 911, and there's an emergency button.
BTW, I live alone in the sticks, so in case I'm unable to call 911, I use this app "Snug". You set a time to check in with it. If you don't, they will start by texting you messages, emails. Then they will notify next of kin, or significant other, then authorities to make a well check. I think most of it is free. I got the upgrade, where a live person will call- for $20/year.
