Amazon founder states that films have gotten worse

...from the article:
In a recent Substack article titled “Can Anyone Develop Movies Around Here?”, Price observed that the quality of films that Hollywood studios are making in recent years has actually gotten worse.

Simple, if you feed hogs top quality grain, they will eat it. But, if you feed the hogs slop, they will happily eat slop as well.

Well when you've done the third remake or fourth remake of the same film (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory comes to mind) you're obviously fighting several fronts and the main one is is that if the first one was excellent there's no way you're going to outshine that one.

I saw Terminator 1 2 and 3 and I felt that was a good enough but they've stretched it out far beyond what really people would have wanted to see. Like the old saying goes "Leave them wanting more"

Problem is is Hollywood is giving us more than we really wanted and in fact has turned us off.

It isn't only the endless sequels and re-makes that are bad. Even new movies are lacking the smarts and depth of feeling of the old. Take All About Eve, one of my favorites, from 1950. Nearly ever word in that film is profound and/or humorous. Can anyone say the same for anything in theaters or streaming today?

Sounds like a "sour grapes" issue from a hack... but whadda' I know?
But I guess I have the right to put my opinions out there too...

Haven't seen a film with depth since accidentally finding Dog Day Afternoon with Al Pacino a few weeks back. Wow, was he great.

No films with depth anymore. All shallow, action oriented. Shouldn't say All, I don't know enough.
