Amazon Refusing My Order

Yesterday and again today I tried ordering some groceries and after accepting the first item it would not let me order a bottle of ketchup without joining Prime. There was a message saying "Join Prime and add to cart". So like yesterday I got off the site.

I was able to sign up for Prime at a great price last Veteran's Day when they offered us vets a deal on it. So far, I am pleased with it. We get our stuff shipped free and very fast and hassle free, and we have the streaming Prime service included. It is likely that we will renew when the time comes in November, though I don't know if they will offer that special price again.

Amazon wants you to sign up with Prime so bad they can taste it. That is hugely annoying to me, I'm always on my guard, as they try to trick you into "accidently" signing up, I've had to manually cancel Prime subscription several times. when amazon really gets under my skin, I just search ebay for the same product, most of the time I find it with free shipping- too bad for Amazon! :p

They tried that with me twice; unsuccessfully. I phoned my CC company & disputed the charges which were $14.00/month.
Then I called Amazon & asked, "How would you like me to shop elsewhere?" They gave me a big discount on my next order.
Never mess with the best! :)

Amazon here adds a free 30 day trial to Prime
every time I order something, I let stay till I get
the delivery for free, then I cancel the membership.

They may have changed it to the way you experienced
it fmdog, since I last bought something.

Mike.

They have tried that with me too. I don't use Amazon enough for it to pay me to subscribe to Prime. Plus, I wouldn't use the services if I did. It got so old with me I started using Ebay also. I only use Amazon now when I can't find it anywhere else and that is very seldom.

Why join prime when all you have to do to get free shipping is to order enough to match the minimum of $25. If what you want is less than the $25 simply order something you will use eventually like house hold items or food?

I live in the wrong part of the world.
Amazon is not a good option for me or around here.
Shipping is never just a few days or in one day for that matter.
I have found that the free shipping if you have prime, is not subject to everything.

Amazon is good for a lot of people, just not here or me.

The few times I have had to use Amazon, that is what I do. I order what it is I'm needing and then add enough items that I know I will be using eventually so I will get free shipping.

I agree, Gardenlover. Just the Prime channel is worth the price, never mind the free shipping.

But I think the free shipping is a good thing to have. You can sometimes get things shipped free from other merchants, if they are part of a special offer, or if you buy a certain amount of merchandise, etc. But with Prime, pretty much anything on Amazon is always free. (There are a few exceptions, very few.) If you buy 3-4 things a month online, it's worth it!

The free shipping hit home today. I shipped a spider scare box I made and a bag of candy to my grandkids - the cost $22 😟

This is very true, and my wife and I did that for a long time. I signed up for Prime last year on Veteran's Day when they offered a great deal for vets. I figured it is a good way to try Prime while it only costs an arm and not the leg too. :)

We do like the Prime streaming channel that goes with Prime and I have yet to try the streaming music channel that is also part of the package. We have not yet decided if we are going to continue with Prime when our membership ends in November.

One thing I don't like about the Prime streaming is that we noticed a number of TV series would include the first season or two, and then charge for the remainder. That can be expensive at a couple of dollars per episode. We check ahead of time and reject those that do that. The movies are clearly marked if the are to be rented, and we never watch those. But make no mistake, much of the Prime streaming is pay per view. We don't care for that at all. Streaming services are not particularly important to us since we prefer to read anyway, but it has been fun seeing some movies and some of the British TV series we missed on PBS.

We don't have cable or satellite TV and only have the Prime streaming because it is part of the package, and we only use the part we don't have to pay extra for. I know people who have satellite and/or cable TV services as well as smart phones with all the data services. To me, it all seems way too much money, but then we each have our priorities.
