Amazon To Open Retail Stores

I guess one good thing, aside from being able to get your items immediately, is that you can look at them before buying. That said, I find the customer reviews at Amazon.com extremely helpful.

I wonder whether they'd include where items were made. That would be important information, in my opinion. (And I'm a big enough Amazon.com shopper.)

I ordered sheets on Friday afternoon and they were delivered on Monday afternoon - so impressed. Learnt the hard way that buying from China is a bad idea, waited months for purchase to arrive.

One issue I have with Amazon, is their wasteful packaging. I think they are trying to resolve this though. Recently, I ordered a mascara along with a few other items. The mascara was sent separately .. in a box that was big enough for dozens of the same. It could have been packed in an envelope.

The other day, I received 2 men's t-shirts and 6 pairs of men's socks in a paper envelope. The plastic packaging of 1 or the t-shirts had been torn open on both ends, and was scrunched up and wrinkled. I tried to lodge a complaint, but could find nowhere to do so. I finally left a complaint on the section where you rate the product .. but I know that's not going to go to the right place. I'm not returning it. I will steam the wrinkles out.

But, I digress .. I'm not sure Amazon stores will be successful. The stock would be fairly limited, I imagine.

I agree it seems like a step backward to me.
