American comedian's racist remarks spark walkout at Winnipeg comedy show

I researched this comedian. His name is Rich Vos. If your interested here is wiki link to him... Rich Vos

He a very seasoned professional. His comedy style is the "shock" type. It will not back down from free expression..Like Norm McDonald, Don Rickles, Kathy Griffin, Ricky Garvis... even Jimmy Kimmel is getting close. Comedy is a terribly tough job now with everyone half cocked to go off at any moment. Maybe people who need relief from all the tension should stay away from comedy shows. Making fun of others is what this guy does for a living, some people love it and many people go to these shows and many aspire to become comedians. Good luck. It seems like a dying art. The late night YouTube comedian/political folk are the new "funny" people. They stay fairly safe too.

What Vos did to those women was hurtful, demeaning, sarcastic, and verbally abusive. Before he got on stage, he was advised against making “jokes” that could be offensive, and he did it anyway. I don't find insult humor funny. A good performer has some semblance of respect for his audience. Management should have not only refunded their money, but they should've cancelled the rest of Vos' shows on the spot. I wouldn't want him to perform in my club. He's not funny, he's a douchebag. Hopefully, management has learned from this and will put some rules into place and enforce them.

If a performer doesn't want to comply with the club's policy on offensive material, then he doesn't get the gig. If he says he will and then doesn't, the show gets stopped, and he's escorted out by security. These guys make their living playing in clubs. Word is out about this incident, and it's going to follow Vos. I'll be curious to see who books him next and how he chooses to behave. I know I won't pay to see him no matter what he does.

I do think he did misread the audience, but mainly he misread how volitile the culture is. Kinda stupid on his part.

What would happen if you went to a show and the comedian started making fun of things you were sensitive about? Your hair? Your weight? Your height? Your figure? Your dress? Your partner? You would take it personally. That is an intentional part of the comedians act. It gets the audience emotionally on edge....now they can't look away. One has to expect that stuff at any comedy show...someone is always offended or they don't get a call back.

Oh...Howard Stern is another shock jock/comedian. Very controversial. I am not a shock comic fan, but they do have freedom of expression and it is only words. There is no fire.

This guy Rich Vos should have learned from another of his type Michael Richards that true racist and anti Semites crash and burn when they spew their vitriol amongst their intended victims.

Bingo! He should've educated himself as to his audience. That's what a good comedian does.

Fortunately, I'm not sensitive about my hair, weight, height, figure, or dress, nor am I sensitive about my age. I might be depending on what was said about my partner. Although I could wham bam him right back if I had a mind to. Believe it, lol. I am sensitive about racial slurs, and homophobic remarks, no matter to whom they're directed. Good comedians don't have to resort to insulting their audience with racial slurs and homophobic attacks to be funny, and I don't think they have to offend their audience to be called back.
