Kim Sue Endicott of Southern California and her tour guide, Congolese national Jean-Paul Mirenge Remezo, were freed in a negotiated handover, officials said.

The kidnappers who abducted them at gunpoint in Queen Elizabeth National Park had demanded a $500,000 ransom, but it was not immediately known how much was paid to secure their release or who paid it.

I wonder who paid the ransom? I saw that the FBI got involved but just how, I don't know.

US policy is no ransoms paid by the government, otherwise criminals would be kidnapping us left and right. I wonder if the Ugandan government made a deal and paid it.

Glad she is safe. In Uganda, not sure you can determine who are the good guys and who are the bad guys

Glad to hear she is safe. But.....gotta say, I don't/didn't feel really sorry for her. If you are going to travel to any of these 'waring countries', as well as drug smuggle, and poaching countries today ?.......you're rolling the dice......particularly if you happen to be from a 'western' country.

Just like the local kid that was arrested in N/Korea a couple of years back. He had no damn business being there, and he had no right to steal anything ! and expect not to be arrested.
