Nobody does in like America does.

You love your country and look after your "Vets".

We love our country too, but don't perhaps show
it so much.

Here is a link to a site that I have enjoyed for many
years.

Old Blue Jacket Flicks

Mike.

I am happy that you like the site, I do too.

When I first found that site many years ago it had
different films, all stars supporting either America or
it's armed forces, John Wayne, Jonny Cash and many
others and the films/songs were really good, maybe
they are still there somewhere.

One about an old torn Stars and Stripes, another
about the military and the fact that the average
age of the fighting men was 24 years, plus many,
many more.

It is a while since I looked through it, so I will see
if I can find any of them.

Mike.

Good morning, Mike.
I'm a bit torn about the site. May be a bit "over-the-top" in graphics and music.
I generally am hesitant about sites that are uber-patriotic.

Before anyone accuses me of stupidity, etc., my family served in WW1, WW2, Korea and VietNam.
I most certainly appreciate what they, and others, have done.

In the Vietnam film, I can remember wading through the deltas in the Mekong Valley. We were Recon and usually moved at night. When the rains came, we were soaked 24/7 as we never stopped looking for Charlie in the holes, trees and swamps. I was shot by a sniper, but he only got me in the left shoulder. A fellow Marine took him down with an M-16. I spent my last 3 weeks in Okinawa before being sent home. Altogether, I was over there 14 months.

Thank you for your service!! 1891152_10201962098791910_1820984158_n.jpg

I was shaving in the hooch and ran out of shaving cream. I staggered to the PX.
Got my shaving cream and could not find anyone in the building. So I left a quarter on the counter and left.
I got back out front and there was a 122 sticking in the ground. This was the reason the place was deserted.
Don't go to the PX when your half asleep.

What a great site! Am on iPad now & th movies won't play here, but will look at on laptop tomw.

Hi Geezerette, these are I believe flash movies, so you
need to go to Adobe and get the proper version for
your iPad.

Good Luck.

Mike.

What are; a hooch, PX and a 122 ?

Not sure about a hooch. Hooch to us was booze, but a lot of outfits made up words to suit the situation. In this case, hooch may mean his tent or something to that effect. PX is short for post exchange. Sort of like a general store where you can buy all kinds of stuff from candy bars to shaving supplies, socks, etc. A 122 is a shell. Need I say more as to why it was deserted?

It was a shell/rocket that was live.
EOD came (explosive ordinance) came by and picked it out of the ground and threw it on a duece flatbed.
They were not careful, they know things that we don't. Just another day in the office for them.

I had forgotten about no movies on Sunday. In 1957, I moved to Memphis and unaware of the Sunday "Blue Laws". That means you can't buy anything that has to be cooked before eating. That includes eggs, raw meat and anything else not ready to eat. These "laws" were ended a few years later, but I still remember being turned back when I tried to buy a dozen eggs on a Sunday.
