Amtrak Train Derails in Washington State, At Least Three Killed and Others Injured

I thought of Denise when I heard this story, because she just talked about wanting to go on a trip using Amtrak. This was such a terrible tragedy, they had the train take a new route to save ten minutes in time, and many were there to celebrate with a train ride and actually received souvenirs, etc. May the victims rest in peace, my sympathy for the families and all affected. More HERE.

It seems like such a freak thing to happen on it's first trip, and that the original route was changed to this one. :(

The train was going 50 mph faster than the speed limit. Maybe it's been said already but it had to go along a curve at that time and derailed.

I heard they are going to thoroughly investigate the incident, too bad they ignored the warnings back when those lives could have been spared.

In all the reporting about this incident, every one of the reporters referred to the coaches as "cars"!

The cars were on the Freeway...the train was made up of coaches.

There were 12 coaches and 2 engines (or locomotives) on this train.

(I know...you'll be saying "picky-picky", but I have a Railroad Heritage and I'm a Model Railroad Hobbyist, so please let me be correct!)

The picture shows a BNSF freight with 4 engines on the point, pulling a mile-long consist up our challenging Cajon Pass.

Thank You,
Howl
