An update on Hubs and my niece's progress

Thanks for indulging me.

I posted a while back that my niece had joined the Coast Guard, stationed in Seattle, and had to find and furnish an apartment. Hubs found her an apartment last week. He's there this week to furnish it. Yesterday they found all her furniture, including a bed, sofa and dining room set. Each item was inexpensive. Today they found all the soft goods for the kitchen and bathroom. Tomorrow they are on a quest to find lamps. She's the youngest of 4 kids and we never really had time to spend with her, so it's also a great "bonding" opportunity.

It has been weird for me because he is always here for lunch and dinner, but now it's just me. It's good training, though, because I'm pleased to say that after his managerial job was eliminated last August at a charitable organization he has found a position with a major medical organization (with free healthcare!) He just turned 60, and if all works out, he will stay there until he is 65 and eligible for Medicare. I'm thrilled for him, but will miss him during the day. At least the hours are 8:30-4:30, Monday to Friday so we will still have lots of time together.

All is well!

that's fantastic news Doug... about your hubs new job, I bet he's over the moon to have got a position at age 60 , when I'm sure he might have thought he would find it very hard to get employed again... congratulate him from us...

Anyway good news about your niece.. and getting everything sorted, what a kind man he is....both of you actually..

..just a little word in his ear via you, from me... he's never spent any time with me either... so if he feels like he would like to make up for that..I'm on the lookout for a new washer dryer set... :sneaky::LOL:
