And now a word from Stay At Home Dads

Hey, don't be shy. Old Mack was a stay at home dad for a while. He's a 6'2", 250 lb. ex-marine ( I know, there's no such thing as an ex-marine). I worked as a photographer for American Studios. He can do laundry, keep the house neat enough (nobody said you had to eat off the floor) and he's a decent cook. He was an intelligence officer and he has always been the perfect gentleman. I think the children have developed rather well, although AJ is a bit of a tom boy what with driving an F250 pick up truck and working as an engineer for SWFMD and being a bit of a road warrior. And Kat has no trouble handling those jets. As for the financial aspect of this arrangement, i'd rather not talk about it. Suffice it to say we're comfortable.

My late husband spent a couple of years working on his doctorate and not working outside the home. As I had a high-intensity job during that time and pretty much supported the family, I was unable to take time off for school activities with my daughter. He was a "room mother" and actually became an official Brownie scout troop leader, one of only seven in the country at that time.

And, yes, he carried a bag on class trips and Brownie excursions. He needed bandaids, water, wipes, first-aid crème, rubber bands for pony tails, an extra set of mittens, shoelaces, Kleenex, and lots of other TLC items. Just like mommies do. I don't think there were any fancy names for it back then, like "murse" or "man-bag", it was just "the bag".

He also ran a day care center's summer program for two years while school was out. I'm pretty sure he carried a bag then, too.
