At last, a method of getting the last drop of ketchup from the bottle.. According to BBC news today..

"A super-slippery coating for bottles could make getting liquids out much easier, US scientists say."

It helps to restore your faith in humanity.

There are no problems with the latest squeeze bottles that I can see. I don't buy it in the glass bottles anymore.

I miss the old glass bottles, I hate those newer upside down squeeze bottles.

I've always gotten the last bit of ketchup out of the bottle by adding a little vinegar to the bottle giving it a shake and using it as the topping for a meatloaf.

You can also make a salad dressing with the leftovers in any of those squeeze condiment bottles, add vinegar & oil, give it a shake and pour over salad greens. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's just good but you always get your money's worth!!!

A super slippery bottle sounds like a great idea but I'm sure the food industry won't go for it. They want us to waste so we buy more. I bet those last drops of anything we buy can really add up. I generally stab the plastic container with the tip of a sharp knife and then use a scissor to cut it off all the way around. Then I put a little piece of plastic wrap on top if I haven't used up the last drops. It sounds like a lot of work but I recently did this with a very tall narrow shampoo bottle, so far I've washed my hair four times with the amount that would have been thrown out.

Seems like at one time there was a problem with some ketchup coming out of the bottle too fast and you would drench everything. Then they changed it up so it came out sooo slow that it was a pia and you basically had to stick a knife in the bottle to get in flowing enough to get any out. I'm going to hold off judgement on this one. LOL

Ever notice the pump on lotion bottles leaves about an 1/8 of the product in the bottom? I use Ruth's technique to use the last bit out but it's really frustrating. I blame the short tubes on those products on the marketing departments. If you can't use it all you have to buy more sooner.

I'm really fond of Clorox company for their spritzer-bottle design as used on Tilex Fresh Shower and other cleaners. The fill tube reaches all the way to the bottom so you can use every last drop. They even sell large refill containers so I can refill the spritzer bottles.

I figure the price of generic ketchup, which is what I buy, is so low that when the plastic bottle gets too low to get it out by shaking it I just buy another bottle.
