Annoying Prescription Bottles

Most Rx bottles have an inner lid that locks. I have pried off that lid, leaving the regular outer lid that just screws on.

Yep, I think you hit a sore spot with a lot of us old timers. As for child prof caps, when I run across a non-child proof cap, I save it to replace the child proof cap of the same size. You'd be surprised how many various good caps fit medicine bottles.

Worse still are individual pills packaged in plastic blisters. Some of these are almost impossible to extract the pill, and there is no work-around. My solution is do not purchase these medications.

I hate the childproof lids. Arthritis makes them hard to open. I have asked my pharmacy to put the non child proof lids on...somethimes they forget.
I once had a pharmacy that had "reversable" lids. You just had to flip them over to get the non childproof. So, both options with one lid. Would like that to be a standard...
I liked the reversible lids as well but always had to have help getting it off the first time, a problem for someone who lived alone.

A while back on this forum we had a discussion on how we all hate “push down and turn “. And if I use the lids that can be flipped over and screwed on, they don’t seem to screw tight enough not to come apart if it’s dropped. Hate blister packs that I have to get a hedge pruner to open.
I usually transfer hard to open OTC products into an easier container. I know all these precautions are to keep the kids from eating the meds.
Another complaint I have is that the information sheets that come with Rx list every possible product as potentially fatal. This has scared me off a number of times, till I can call someone and find out the truth. I’m sure they do that to cover their @$$ in case of lawsuits. And last but not least whenDrs give one a Rx over their shoulder going out the door before one can ask questions.

Do bottles have to be round? Why not small hinged boxes that stack?
Once you grab a round bottle and tip it over, move than 1 pill often comes out (into the sink....on the floor....lost under the frig..) Printing on the bottles is all over the place, makes sense to pharmacy but not the patient. The pill bottles I have don't have removable labels, I need to black out all the info with black Sharpie before tossing. Can they be recycled?
