Anorexia and bulima. Reality’s of these disorders.

Anorexia and bulimia are serious, life-threatening mental health conditions. Anorexia involves severe food restriction and a distorted body image, while bulimia involves cycles of binge eating followed by purging to prevent weight gain. Both require professional medical and psychological treatment for recovery.

A topic for discussion.

A second cousin of mine died from complications from bulimia. He lived for about 15 years with it.

His form of bulimia was not only excessive binging and purging, but also extremely excessive exercising. He'd binge and then exercise heavily for hours until he'd pass out.

Toward the end, he was so thin that I swear you could almost see through him. It was heart failure that carried him off.

It about destroyed his parents. They did everything they could for him, spent their entire life savings to get him into program after program and he walked away from every one of them. He was also schizophrenic.

I have a cousin who is struggling presently with bulimia.
It's a tough journey. She is seeking help and interventions.

Part of her is wanting to get better, but the other part she is very scared about giving up the eating disorder.

I suffered bulimia for 2 decades because of self-loathing, over consumption of sugary sweets, soft drinks and low self-esteem.
As a result, my teeth rotted away, and I had them all surgically removed about 12 years ago.
I had years of therapy before I was able to like myself and accept who I was.
