I'm being asked to "Scan this QR code shown on screen with my phone or tablet - just given the tablet away - how do I do this with my super new phone? but dumb upstairs!!

You go to the app store and download a bar code scanner app. You can use it for other things that have a bar code on them to find out more about a product. It just takes you to the product website.

For what it's worth, I had to look up QR,, I had no idea what it meant. As for using my phone for anything but text and spoken word, that's lost on me too. It doesn't help that my phone is still the same one that I had new in 1998. It's possible to connect it to the internet, but in the last twenty-eight years, I have yet to work out how!

Friends tease saying that their grandchildren are far more technology literate than me.

yes but do they know how to love and care for people as well??

no app necessary... hover your camera over the QR code, then click the link that pops up when the code is in focus.

That is how I do it!

Be careful and always be skeptical when following a QR code.

“Quishing, short for QR code phishing, is an identity fraud scam utilizing QR codes. Scammers post physical images of QR codes in a high traffic location or send them via email or text message. Once you scan the QR code, it takes you to a scammer’s website, which may look like legitimate, where the scammer lures you into providing personal or financial information. These scammers often attempt to disguise themselves as a government agency, bank, or other company to lend legitimacy to their claims.”
