Another Hack

It gets even stranger....it appears that Equifax will be enrolling anyone who might have been compromised is their Identity Theft program, Trusted ID, free for a year...then $28 a month, thereafter. And, once enrolled, it may take Equifax a week to notify you of the results. This smells kind of fishy....

Even stranger, 3 of the top managers sold substantial shares of their company stock in the days between finding out about the breach, and today's announcement....That Really smells.

This is going to develop into something far more serious than most computer hacks/breaches.

Fraud?

Fraud...or just plain incompetence at Equifax. It's far too early to know what is really going on, but the early indications would make me think that the Justice Dept. might want to get involved in this one. These 3 large credit monitoring companies have massive amounts of critical data on nearly everyone, and if someone can break into their systems, the potential for theft is extremely high.

That smells like 3-day old fish. Someone needs to go to jail for this.

These three major credit reporting agencies...Equifax, Experian, and Transunion, need to be held to the highest standards. If you've ever received their free annual credit report, it seems they know everything about everyone, other than what they had for breakfast. Such data is fertile grounds for every cyberthief out there. Then, when their executives begin selling shares of stock Before the news hits the media, and the company stock takes a nosedive, it becomes pretty obvious that there is some major mismanagement going on. I just hope our government has the "orbs" to launch a major investigation into these operations.

I checked and yup, I made the list. ALL of my financial inormation was dumped to some site. In return for their careless handling of my info, I get "credit monitoring". Wow, FREE credit monitoring for up to six years. What the hell is "credit monitoring"? So, if someone runs up $150,000 in bogus credit card debt, because of this breach; I get to watch. Ooooh. Thank you, Equifax. AND I can get a whole $150, if my credit history is all screwed up.

The up-side is if your brain is tied up worrying about your credit it won't have much time to worry about all the other chaos in the world so it's a good thing, right?:cautious:
